Tony Wagner wrote about the skills that students need (he calls them "Survival Skills" on his website)

In 2003 Tony Wagner authored a book about reinventing schools.   He pointed out the we should avoid  reforming schools and we should instead create entirely new ways of organizing schools.

Here are some pages that appear in the FREE "look inside" feature of the book as it appears on Amazon.com:

Imagine, 4900 started in 9th grade, 1500 dropped out (705 remained)

Interesting:   School improvmement is measured by test scores -- but Scott Looney has
othere ways to measure progress.  See MASTERY.org

Well, there are some gaps  in the free material

The advances in Denmark also appear in Wagner's 2015 book  MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED

Here are some pages from the first chapter of REINVENT SCHOOLS

I started a discussion question on GoodReads.org
QUESTION:  Should we REINVENT schools or simply REFORM what is there now?
In this book, Tony Wagner uses the term "reinvent schools."

If you have not yet visited these links, why not visit and then comment about "do we need to reform what we have or REINVENT the schools?"

Making schools smaller makes sense if the procedures int he classroom are changed to allow individual exploration as described in MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED.   You can see excerpts from MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED at TINYURL.com/quotesForBetterSchools.   You can also get more tips about how to improve schools from Littky's book.

Thanks for reading this far.
